Holographic Phase Retrieval Methods on Proposed Prototype Display. We show monochrome reconstructions for the green and red wavelength channels of our system. The phase-only holograms used in this prototype are provided in the supplemental material.

Motivated by the reference design for holographic phase retrieval, we are trying to explore a way to design references for general phase retrieval. A general mathematical framework and recovery algorithm is presented for the holographic phase retrieval problem. In this problem, which arises in holographic coherent diffraction imaging, a "reference" portion of the signal to be recovered via phase retrieval is a priori known from experimental design. Phase retrieval is the art of acquiring this information which is crucial in surface reconstruction, microscopy, location detection and depth measurements. In this chapter we will first introduce holograp hic based methods, or the digital holography approach, as a solution to the phase retrieval problem.

Phase Retrieval. The phase retrieval problem has drawn considerable at-tention over the years, as many optical detection devices can only measure Dynamic sampling iterative phase retrieval for holographic data storage Ruixian Chen, Jianying Hao, Changyu Yu, Qijing Zheng, Xianying Qiu, Suping Wang, Yuxin Chen, Kun Wang, Dakui Lin, Yi Yang, Hui Li, Xiao Lin, and Xiaodi Tan The on-axis methods can fully utilize the space–bandwidth product of the DH system. However, to achieve high phase retrieval accuracy, phase-shifting methods must record several holograms (typically ≥3) in time sequence or in a single shot , , , . Unlike phase-shifting methods, the off-axis methods just need one hologram in a single shot, which make them suitable for faster imaging by fully exploiting the field of view (FOV) of the camera. The resulting inverse problem, known as holographic phase retrieval, is well-known to have improved problem conditioning relative to the original. This innovation, i.e.

A novel phase modulation method for holographic data storage with phase-retrieval reference beam locking is proposed and incorporated into an amplitude-encoding collinear holographic storage system. Unlike the conventional phase retrieval method, the proposed method locks the data page and the corre …

In the computational imaging community, many attempts have been made in solving holographic phase retrieval using references, among which has been very successful. Motivated by the reference design for holographic phase retrieval, we are trying to explore a way to design references …

Phase recovery from intensity-only measurements forms the heart of coherent imaging techniques and holography. In this study, we demonstrate that a neural network can learn to perform phase Introducing the reference substantially simplifies the resulting phase retrieval problem, which we call holographic phase retrieval: the computational problem is now a linear deconvolution, which is equivalent to solving a linear system [35, 36, 37, 38]. The entailing computation can be further streamlined when certain specific reference shapes are employed. A novel optimization formulation is provided for holographic phase retrieval with data subjected to Poisson shot noise in the low-photon regime. This formulation, based on regularized maximum likelihood estimation, consistently provides improved image reconstruction. Link to full paper. Low-Photon Holographic Phase Retrieval.

In this problem, which arises in holographic coherent diffraction imaging, a "reference" portion of the signal to be recovered via phase retrieval is a priori known from experimental design. Holograms computed using our "learned hardware-in-the-loop phase retrieval" eliminates severe aberrations and show an improved quality, enhanced resolution and remarkable contrast, with black regions truly being black as shown below. We achieve all of this in a holographic display, perhaps for the first time to the best of our knowledge.
